Introduction /
Procter & Gamble is a leading international corporation producing fast moving consumer goods in nearly 50 categories. They were interested in automating several internal processes and have issued a call for proposals. INGATE is proud to receive a contract for this effort, and developed the Maintenance Tracking Tool, to support the process of decision making.
Maintenance Tracking Tool /
Any manufacturing company, faced with the requirements of large volume, high-quality production, must confront a number of challenges:
Organizing plant maintenance
Reduction of unplanned shutdowns
Simplifying and streamlining the decision making process
Streamlining workflow
Immediate availability of equipment maintenance information.
In addition to these issues, Procter & Gamble had additional requirements as a result of their world-class reputation and high productivity requirements. To stay competitive and be the leader in their field, P&G saw a need for ongoing improvements in these areas:
Quality assurance and control
Production cost control
Risk management
Management of preventive maintenance.
Our Solution /
To address all of these concerns, we developed the Maintenance Tracking Tool - a system providing equipment maintenance automation. MTT provides complete control of the preventive maintenance process.
Our Development Process /
In-depth analysis of the issues of concern, in cooperation with P&G, gave our team a good opportunity to define and design the principle functions of MTT.
Our design covered system functionality to a level of detail that included user interface prototypes.
Initial implementation was aimed at delivering critical elements; separate system elements could be tuned independently.
As a result, P&G and our team were better positioned to control all stages of project development.
Installation of development releases of the system promoted accelerated system integration:
- Early and aggressive testing of software modules
- Training the potential users
- Early feedback, and references.
Our approach made it possible to develop a high quality system in the timeframe needed.
Basic Technologies /
MTT is based on J2EE technologies
RUP development methodology
MS SQL Server 2000 is used to store:
- All equipment data
- Maintenance requests
- All related maintenance tracking data
Integration with SAP/R3, for access to master data.
Security: A Role-Based Model /
MTT supports authentication of users and uses information about each user to promote effective use of the system.
Additional Features /
MTT presents a number of services simplifying data processing:
SAP/R3 user services
MS Office synchronization
Event notification services
Maintenance management services
Error handling system.
Benefits /
MTT provides:
Simplification and automation of the workflow process;
Streamlined decision-making for equipment maintenance tracking;
A more agile planning process;
Improved cost control.
Our solutions will benefit a company in the following ways:
Clearly visible results at every stage of development.
Our client controls the project development process.
We provide expertise and support formulating requirements and the user interface.
The final result is clear before the project is over.
